It is known for its dramatic landscapes, including large orange sand dunes, towering rock formations, and fast-flowing clear rivers and streams. The region is also home to a variety of wildlife, including jaguars, anteaters, and monkeys.

The Jalapão is a natural beauty preserved region. In recent years, the Jalapão has become a popular tourist destination for adventure travelers.
